Bukayo Saka returns to Arsenal for further assessment after leaving England camp

Bukayo Saka has returned to Arsenal for further medical evaluation after picking up an injury during England’s 2-1 loss to Greece in the UEFA Nations League on Thursday.

Arsenal fans are anxiously awaiting the results of this assessment, hoping it won’t result in a prolonged absence for the winger, whose contributions have been pivotal to the Gunners’ title push this season.

Currently, Arsenal sits third in the Premier League standings with 17 points, just one behind the league leaders after seven matches, having won five and drawn two. Saka has been a vital player in this impressive run, scoring two goals and providing seven assists while creating the most chances for his team.

The Hale End academy graduate is expected to play a crucial role in Arsenal’s pursuit of the title, and fans are eager to see him return to the pitch once the international break ends.

However, his injury raises concerns as Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta already has to cope with the absence of captain Martin Odegaard, who is sidelined for an unspecified period.

England head coach Gareth Southgate addressed Saka’s injury situation, stating, “He felt something,” during the match against Greece, which forced the winger to leave the field in the 51st minute. He was substituted by Chelsea’s Noni Madueke. England’s initial medical tests prompted Saka’s return to London Colney, where Arsenal’s medical team will continue his assessment.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported via his X account, “England confirm Bukayo Saka returns to Arsenal with immediate effect leaving the camp for further assessment. His injury will now be assessed by Arsenal staff after initial tests with England.”

Saka’s injury came in a hard-fought match that saw Greece initially take the lead through Vangelis Pavlidis’ goal early in the second half. England equalized late in the 87th minute through Jude Bellingham, only for Greece to regain the lead during stoppage time, with Pavlidis completing his brace.

Arsenal now prepares to face Bournemouth on October 19, hoping to have Saka back in action after the break.
