Carragher Sparks Debate: Ipswich’s Strengths vs Leicester’s Struggles in Relegation Battle

Jamie Carragher believes that Leicester City’s negative atmosphere could jeopardize their chances of escaping relegation. The Foxes are currently 19th in the Premier League, just two points from safety, alongside other promoted sides Southampton and Ipswich. Carragher, along with fellow Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville, predicts that these three teams will likely face relegation.

However, Carragher feels Ipswich has the best chance of survival due to the positive energy around the club, especially after their 2-0 victory over Chelsea. He argues that Leicester’s high expectations and occasional crowd negativity, like the booing of goalkeeper Danny Ward after a loss to Wolves, could hold them back.

Carragher noted: “I’ve been really worried for Leicester since Ruud van Nistelrooy came in… Leicester expect to stay up, at times there can be a bit of negativity.” He contrasted this with Ipswich’s optimistic outlook, which helps them maintain a positive atmosphere even during tough spells.

Neville, on the other hand, sees Leicester’s experience in the Premier League as a key advantage. He said, “It’s between Ipswich and Leicester… I’ll go Leicester, just because they have more experience of the league.”
