Chelsea is gearing up for a seismic summer transfer overhaul, with reports suggesting that Enzo Maresca is planning to axe nine players from the squad! 💸 The Blues’ boss is set to wield the knife, slashing players who spent last season on loan, in a bid to trim down the playing squad.
According to BBC Sport, the list of players for sale includes Raheem Sterling, Axel Disasi, Djordje Petrovic, Armando Broja, Joao Felix, Renato Veiga, Ben Chilwell, Carney Chukwuemeka, and Lesley Ugochukwu. Sterling, who earned a whopping £300,000 a week, is among those expected to fetch a hefty transfer fee.
Kepa Arrizabalaga, however, is reportedly close to joining Arsenal in a £5million deal, and might escape the purge. Meanwhile, young talents like Zak Sturge, Leo Castledine, Alex Matos, and Alfie Gilchrist are also looking for new doors to knock on.
Despite the clear-out, Chelsea hasn’t slowed down on recruitment, with pre-agreed deals for Kendry Paez, Mamadou Sarr, Dario Essugo, and Estevao Willian already in motion. Liam Delap’s £30m switch from Ipswich Town has also been announced.
Enzo Maresca’s ruthless pruning could net Chelsea a tidy sum and free up space on the wage bill. Will this bold move pay off for the Blues?
