Chelsea are reportedly ready to trade two first-team players to Crystal Palace in a bid to secure the signing of Michael Olise. The Blues have reignited their pursuit of the £60 million-rated winger after failing to secure him last summer despite a £35 million bid they believed activated a release clause in his contract.
After last summer’s unsuccessful attempt, Chelsea has contacted Crystal Palace again this week to inquire about Olise. His contract includes a complex release clause worth up to £60 million, which complicated Chelsea’s previous bid.
According to The Sun, Chelsea is considering including two players in their offer for Olise. The potential players mentioned are Trevoh Chalobah and Noni Madueke. Chalobah, who made 17 appearances for Chelsea last season, struggled with injuries but became a regular starter by February. Madueke, signed for £26 million in January 2023, scored in 34 matches in his first full season and is also under consideration.
Both Chalobah and Madueke have long-term contracts with Chelsea, expiring in 2028 and 2030, respectively. Mail Sport reports that Chelsea is open to including fringe players like Chalobah and Armando Broja in the deal for Olise.
Other clubs like Manchester United, Newcastle, and Bayern Munich have also shown interest in Olise, but Chelsea remains confident in landing their long-term target. Olise is keeping his options open this summer but seeks a swift resolution before heading to the Olympics with France next month.
Last summer, Chelsea’s pursuit of Olise sparked controversy, with Crystal Palace accusing Chelsea of breaching transfer rules. Despite this, Chelsea has now made a formal request to discuss a potential move for Olise with Palace.
