Fresh off a thrilling 124-123 victory over the New York Knicks, Chicago Bulls fans have plenty to celebrate early in the season. After suffering a narrow loss to the leagueโs top team just days before, the Bulls showed their resilience by holding on to a win, even after letting a large lead slip in the gameโs final minutes.
In a decisive moment, Bulls guard Coby White calmly sank three crucial free throws with only three seconds left, after Knicks’ Josh Hart fouled him on a last-second three-point attempt. Thanks to White, the Bulls sidestepped what could have been a back-to-back heartbreaking loss, especially painful as Chicago had led New York by as much as 22 points midway through the third quarter.
While the win over the Knicks gave fans a reason to cheer, the excitement continued the next morning with the unveiling of the Bullsโ new “City Edition” jersey. For eight seasons, Nike has crafted unique City Edition jerseys for all 30 NBA teams, and this year’s Bulls design takes a fresh direction from past versions.
Chicago’s 2024-25 City Edition jersey is inspired by the United Center itself. The jersey incorporates fonts from the arena’s exterior, a color scheme reflecting both the interior and exterior of the building, and a tag on the frontโs bottom-left corner featuring the iconic “Home of the Bulls” quote found outside the arena.
This marks the third time in eight seasons that Chicago’s City Edition jerseys are predominantly white. Initially, the City Edition design was inspired by the Chicago Flag, showcasing light blue accents along with the city’s signature red. For the following two seasons, the design continued to draw on the Chicago Flag before shifting in a new direction in 2020-21.
In the 2020-21 season, the Bullsโ City Edition jersey paid tribute to Chicagoโs iconic architecture, incorporating gold for the firstโand until this season, onlyโtime. Over the next three years, the design shifted to a deep red color scheme, drawing inspiration from Chicago legends like Michael Jordan, the city’s bridges, and the former Chicago Stadium.
The new 2024-25 City Edition jersey will be available for fans to purchase, though theyโll have to wait until November 23 to see the Bulls hit the court in the new white-and-gold look. The Bulls are set to wear the City Edition jersey eight times this season, including on January 4, Derrick Rose night, and for the final time on March 29 in a showdown against the Dallas Mavericks.
