De’Aaron Fox addressed his injuries after the Kings’ loss, saying, “Sometimes you just don’t play well.” On January 25, 2025, in New York, Sacramento Kings guard De’Aaron Fox (5) dunked against the New York Knicks during the third quarter at Madison Square Garden, as captured by Wendell Cruz of Imagn Images.
Late Saturday night, after the Kings’ 143-120 loss to the Knicks, Fox walked into an empty visiting locker room. While his teammates had already showered, dressed, and departed, Fox remained behind receiving treatment from the team’s performance staff.
Fox is feeling the toll of an 82-game season. Heading into Saturday’s game, the 45th on the schedule, he was listed as questionable due to a sprained thumb on his right, non-shooting hand. Additionally, he’s been playing through an injured pinkie on his shooting hand all season and missed three games earlier this month after sustaining a glute contusion from a hard fall during a dunk attempt.
The injuries have taken their toll, contributing to a decline in his shooting numbers. Against the Knicks, Fox shot 6-of-20 from the field, finishing with 14 points and four assists. Over his last six games, he’s been shooting 32% from the field—significantly lower than his career average of 47%.
