Latest Report on Potential De’Aaron Fox, Lakers Trade
The Sacramento Kings remain reluctant to trade De’Aaron Fox to the LA Lakers.
On December 28, 2024, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, Sacramento Kings guard De’Aaron Fox (5) was seen in action against the Los Angeles Lakers during the first half.
With less than two weeks until the February 6 trade deadline, the Kings are reportedly gearing up for significant moves. They’ve been linked to standout forwards and are actively offering trade packages involving Kevin Huerter, Trey Lyles, and draft capital to strengthen their wing depth.
Another intriguing aspect of the trade talks revolves around De’Aaron Fox, who could become eligible for a supermax contract extension if he secures All-NBA honors this offseason.
According to The Athletic’s Jovan Buha, there’s considerable speculation about Fox’s availability, particularly regarding a potential trade to the Lakers.
“There’s a lot of uncertainty about how available he actually is,” Buha noted. “There’s some uncertainty about whether they would even trade him to the Lakers, their bitter rival.”Despite ongoing rumors, a trade involving Fox before the deadline, especially to a division rival like the Lakers, appears unlikely. Fox has been dealing with lingering injuries, contributing to a recent slump. Over the Kings’ last six games, in which they went 3-3, Fox has averaged just 16 points while shooting 31.8%.
Drafted in 2017, Fox has been instrumental in the Kings’ resurgence and is considered one of the franchise’s all-time greats. While the time to part ways may come eventually, Sacramento seems committed to keeping him as their leader for now.
