LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers were desperate for a win on Sunday afternoon as they faced the Minnesota Timberwolves on the road, trailing 2-1 in their playoff series. Unfortunately for the Lakers, they came up short, losing 116-113, and now find themselves in a deep hole, with the Timberwolves holding a dominant 3-1 series lead.
With Game 5 scheduled for Wednesday night, the Lakers are now facing elimination. While the game was an exciting spectacle, ESPN analyst Richard Jefferson found himself in hot water over his commentary during the match.
A post shared on X by @warriorsworld accused Jefferson of showing favoritism toward the Lakers and LeBron James, calling his commentary โshameless propaganda.โ
“Richard Jefferson doing Lakers games is basically watching a LakersNation Playback Stream,” the post stated.
Fans quickly took to the comments, sharing their frustration. One fan remarked, โ100%. It’s shameless propaganda, but I almost respect his commitment.โ Another fan commented, โFR. All those jabs he took at us with the 3-1 and blocked by James references. Also totally ignoring obvious wrist contact from James on the Edwards call.โ
A third fan chimed in with, โThat was crazy gaslighting, they started talking about what play the Lakers should run lmao.โ Another user criticized Jefferson for prematurely claiming the ball was out before the replay, calling it a biased take.
The Lakers now have a chance to extend their season and reduce the series deficit to 3-2 in Game 5 on Wednesday night. For the team to survive, both LeBron James and Luka Doncic will need to deliver big performances.
