Castleton has been a solid addition for the struggling Raptors, prompting them to extend his stay. His initial 10-day contract with Toronto began on March 6.
With an open roster spot, the Raptors do not need to make any additional moves to accommodate Castleton. He is expected to play in at least the next five games, after which the team must decide whether to retain him for the rest of the season or let him go.
Before joining Toronto, Castleton spent his rookie season on a two-way contract with the Lakers. In Los Angeles, he averaged 1.5 points, 0.8 rebounds, and 0.2 assists over 16 games, playing just 3.7 minutes per contest.
After going undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft, he signed a two-way deal with the Lakers and was part of their squad that won the inaugural 2023 NBA In-Season Tournament. He re-signed on another two-way contract with the Lakers before this season but was waived in mid-October.
Shortly after, the Memphis Grizzlies picked him up on a two-way contract, but they waived him in early January.
The 24-year-old played college basketball at both Michigan and Florida. At Michigan, he averaged 2.3 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 0.4 blocks per game in limited minutes. After transferring to Florida, he saw a significant increase in his role, averaging 14.9 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game over three seasons.
