Ezekiel Elliott has secured his next opportunity just ahead of the postseason.
The former Dallas Cowboys running back is reportedly signing with the Los Angeles Chargers, according to FOX Sportsโ Jordan Schultz. Elliott is set to join the teamโs practice squad with the aim of being elevated for the Chargersโ Wild Card round matchup against the Houston Texans.
โBreaking: Former #Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott is signing with the #Chargers, sources tell @NFLonFOX. Zeke wanted a chance to compete for a Super Bowl and will add valuable experience to the Bolts’ offense,โ Schultz tweeted.
The Cowboys and Elliott parted ways last week at the three-time Pro Bowlerโs request. With Dallas falling out of playoff contention early, Elliott sought to join a team with championship aspirations.
The Chargers ended the regular season on a high note, winning their last three games to secure an 11-6 record, thanks in part to a standout year from running back JK Dobbins. Dobbins rushed for 905 yards and 9 touchdowns on 195 carries across 13 games.
While Dobbins missed several games due to a knee injury sustained in Week 12 against the Baltimore Ravens, he returned strong for the teamโs final two games. Adding a veteran presence like Elliott provides the Chargers with reliable depth and experience.
This season, Elliott recorded career lows, rushing for 226 yards and 3 touchdowns on 74 carries over 15 games for the Cowboys.
