Olympic champion Gabby Thomas has revealed the secrets behind her remarkable success following a standout 2024 season.

Thomas, who triumphed in the 200m, 4x100m, and 4x400m relays at the Olympics, attributes her achievements to prioritizing her career over personal indulgences.

Reflecting on her Olympics performance, Thomas emphasized, “Prioritizing resting, sleeping, sometimes you just have to say no to things when your friends want to hang out and it sucks sometimes but it is not worth it in the end.”

She also shared advice on passion and flexibility, stating, “The biggest thing I would say is just make sure you enjoy what you are doing. It is never too late to pivot. I had some things that I wanted to do but I changed my mind so just make sure you love what you are doing.”

Despite suffering only one loss in the 200m at the Los Angeles Grand Prix in May, Thomas has remained undefeated since then. She showcased her prowess at the US Olympic trials in late June and clinched the 200m title at the London Diamond League just before the Olympics.

In Paris, Thomas delivered a commanding performance, defeating 100m champion Julien Alfred with a time of 21.83 seconds in what was anticipated to be a close contest.

Though she will not compete in the Diamond League Final in Brussels this weekend, Thomas is eagerly anticipating a successful 2025 season, with the World Championships in Tokyo as her primary goal.
