The Miami Heat are once again in the mix for a potential trade as they search for a forward to bolster their roster. After missing out on Kevin Durant, team president Pat Riley is expected to explore various options to upgrade Erik Spoelstra’s squad.

One name drawing significant interest is Jonathan Kuminga. In a July 3 report, ClutchPoints writer Garrett Kerman proposed a trade scenario that could land the Golden State Warriors forward in Miami. The potential deal includes:

    Miami Heat receive: Jonathan Kuminga

Golden State Warriors receive: Kyle Anderson, Haywood Highsmith, 2026 first-round pick, 2028 second-round pick

“This deal gives Golden State a proven shooter in Robinson, an expiring contract in Highsmith, and valuable draft capital,” Kerman wrote. “For Miami, it’s a bold swing for a player who could be a franchise cornerstone. The Heat may need to include additional second-rounders or a young player like Jovic to sweeten the pot, depending on market competition.”

Kuminga is a high-upside, 21-year-old forward who could anchor the next generation of the Heat alongside Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Kel’el Ware. While veterans can offer short-term results, Kuminga brings All-Star potential and long-term value.

Other Targets: DeMar DeRozan, John Collins

If the Heat can’t land Kuminga, they could pivot to DeMar DeRozan, who’s reportedly available this summer. In a July 4 article for Bleacher Report, Zach Buckley named the Heat as a top landing spot:

“DeRozan won’t hold the widest appeal, as he’s about to turn 36 and never added an outside shot to his arsenal,” Buckley wrote. “However, win-now shoppers seeking more half-court creation and scoring won’t find many better alternatives…Landing spot: Miami Heat.”

DeRozan averaged 22.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 4.4 assists for the Sacramento Kings, shooting 47.7% from the field and 32.8% from three. He could help cover the offensive void left by Jimmy Butler’s departure.

Another possible option is John Collins of the Utah Jazz. At 27, Collins offers a blend of perimeter shooting, rebounding, and athleticism. His age and style of play make him a strong fit alongside Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo.

In the July 2 Stein Line Newsletter, insider Jake Fischer noted:

“The Miami Heat are an oft-mentioned potential Kuminga suitor and do have a clear need on the wing between All-Star guard Tyler Herro and All-Defensive Team big man Bam Adebayo. The Heat have also been linked to Kings scoring guard DeMar DeRozan by various league sources and likewise mentioned as a potential destination for Utah’s very available John Collins.”
