Fabrizio Romano provides an update on William Saliba, noting that the young defender’s impressive performances for Arsenal have drawn attention from top European clubs like Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid. However, he reassures fans that Saliba has not considered leaving the Emirates.
This comes after Real Madrid’s Antonio Rudiger praised Saliba, calling him an ideal signing for the Spanish side, which sparked concern among Arsenal supporters. Despite this interest, Saliba recently signed a long-term contract with the club, affirming his commitment to north London.
In his Daily Briefing, Romano addressed the speculation, particularly after Rudiger’s comments. He stated:
“I can say there is absolutely nothing going on with Saliba and any other club. Back in the summer we had rumours about Saliba and PSG, and about Spanish clubs, but the reality is that he never considered leaving Arsenal. He extended his contract in summer 2023, and he remains very happy with life at the club, itโs fantastic for him there.”
Romano continued, highlighting Saliba’s contentment with Mikel Arteta’s vision for the team:
“Saliba can see the ambition under manager Mikel Arteta, and he can see how important he is in the project.”
While it’s natural for a player of Saliba’s caliber to attract interest, Romano emphasized that this is merely a compliment and that Saliba is committed to Arsenal.
Since joining Arsenal in 2019, Saliba spent several years on loan in France before making his Premier League debut in 2022. His development has been remarkable, establishing him as one of the top defenders globally. Despite recent reports linking him to PSG, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, Salibaโs new contract, lasting until 2027, confirms his intention to stay at Arsenal.
In other news, Gabriel Jesus is also generating interest, as Palmeiras made an inquiry for his return to South America. However, Arsenal quickly rejected the approach, unwilling to let their striker go.
Jesus has had a challenging season, netting only four goals since last season, and has been replaced in the starting lineup by new signing Kai Havertz. Despite this, the club values his potential contribution during a busy winter schedule, and now is a crucial time for Jesus to showcase his abilities.
