Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna has stated that defender Axel Tuanzebe will “be out for a while” following a hand injury. The 26-year-old had played in every Premier League match for the Blues at right back, making a strong impression, but was unavailable for the recent 4-1 loss to West Ham.
After the match, McKenna indicated that the Congolese international is expected to be sidelined for an extended period.
“He’s done a hand injury, a very unfortunate accident,” the Town boss explained. “He’s had surgery and will be out for a while. It’s not going to be a couple of weeks, probably longer. There are still discussions with the specialists.”
He added, “He’s naturally a miss with the way he’s started the season. He’s going to be out for a little while. We’re going to have to adjust and regroup as a team.”
In Tuanzebe’s absence, Ben Johnson took over his position at the London Stadium but faced challenges as the Blues’ four-match unbeaten streak came to an abrupt end.
