Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap featured for England Under-21s in their 0-0 draw against Spain. The match in Cadiz served as a rematch of the 2023 Euro U21 final, where England triumphed 1-0 courtesy of Curtis Jones’ goal.
This time, the game ended in a stalemate, with Delap playing 68 minutes to earn his ninth cap before being replaced by former Ipswich loanee Dane Scarlett, currently on loan at Oxford United in the Championship.
Omari Hutchinson, Delapโs Ipswich teammate, was also called up by Ben Futcher but was not included in the matchday squad. The reason for his absence remains unclear.
Another notable omission was Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney, who was also not part of the group. England will next travel to Almere for a game against the Netherlands on Monday at 5:45 pm GMT.
Meanwhile, Arijanet Muric started in goal for Kosovo during their Nations League C match against Romania in Bucharest. Despite dominating the match in their pursuit of top spot in Group 2, Kosovo couldn’t break the deadlock. Muric, earning his 41st cap, did not make a save during the match.
However, the game ended controversially, with reports of racist chanting causing Kosovo to walk off the pitch in the final moments of stoppage time. The match was subsequently abandoned, leaving UEFA to determine its outcome. Kosovo are scheduled to face Lithuania in Pristina on Monday at 7:45 pm.
Elsewhere, Ipswich goalkeeper Cieran Slicker was on the bench for Scotland’s 1-0 win over Croatia. Although he didnโt earn his first senior cap, his side secured victory with a late goal from John McGinn. Croatia were reduced to 10 men after Petar Sucicโs first-half red card. Scotland will next play Poland in Warsaw on Monday at 7:45 pm, needing a win to avoid relegation from Nations League A.
Across six matches involving Ipswich players during this international break, there have been just two goals scored and four goalless draws.
