As Chelsea and Ipswich Town prepare for their upcoming Premier League match at Portman Road, the latest injury news surrounding both teams has been revealed. Enzo Marescaโs side is aiming to recover after failing to secure a win in both of their festive fixtures, while Ipswich faces several key player absences and doubts.
Injury News for Ipswich Town:
Chiedozie Ogbene โ Out for the season with an Achilles tear.
George Hirst โ Out until January due to injury; Kieran McKenna noted in November, โHeโs had another scan, and it wasnโt particularly great news. Itโs going to be a period of time, certainly. Weโre still not exactly sure, but itโs going to take us through the Christmas period, we think.โ
Massimo Luongo โ Doubt due to illness. McKenna mentioned last week, โMassimo has been ill over the last week or two, so weโll have to assess how he is.โ
Janoi Donacien โ Out with an ankle injury, last update from McKenna in late September stated he is receiving treatment and is looking at next steps.
Axel Tuanzebe โ Out long-term with a hamstring injury. McKenna said, โWeโve lost Axel, hamstring, long-term. Heโs seeing specialists over the next 24 hours. Hopefully, it wonโt need surgery, but itโs a significant injury.โ
Chelseaโs Injury Concerns:
Reece James โ Out with a thigh injury, expected to return in mid-January. Maresca said, โHe will start with us for part of the session. So slowly, slowly, he is moving forward. That doesnโt mean he will be with us on Sunday or next Sunday.โ
Wesley Fofana โ Out until mid-January. Maresca stated, โBoth are still out and will still be out for a long period.โ
Benoit Badiashile โ Out with the same update as Fofana.
Carney Chukwuemeka โ Doubt due to a virus.
Romero Lavia โ Doubt, still recovering from a knock. Maresca commented, โRomeo is still recovering. Heโs much, much better and out on the pitch and working, but unfortunately, heโs not ready for the next game.โ
Additionally, Mudryk is provisionally suspended over an alleged doping offense, and Kellyman remains sidelined with a hamstring injury.
