Is it finally happening? Noah Lyles hints at when & where he could race NFL star Tyreek Hill: โItโd be very Mike Tyson vs Jake Paulโ
Noah Lyles, the Olympic 100m champion, has given a strong indication that a race against NFL star Tyreek Hill could soon happen. He shared his thoughts on the ideal setting and occasion for the event.
During a conversation on the Beyond The Records podcast with fellow Olympic champions Grant Holloway and Rai Benjamin, the trio discussed the possibility of track athletes competing against NFL players, similar to the recent clash between boxer Mike Tyson and Jake Paul.
They all agreed that the 2025 Pro Bowl Games would be a perfect venue for such a race, potentially pitting Lyles against Hill, while Holloway also expressed interest in racing NFL wide receiver DK Metcalf. Lyles asked Holloway, “Grant, would you race DK Metcalf? Would you take him in a 40 [yard dash]?”
Holloway responded affirmatively, saying, “Of course. DK, you probably don’t know me, I’m a huge fan. You’re on my fantasy team, so keep doing your thing. But hey, let’s do it man. If Noah’s gonna do Tyreek… look, I’ll take the undercard with you. I think it’d be good.”
Benjamin then suggested a location for the races, saying, “I feel like it would be good to do it at the All-Star Weekend.” Lyles playfully responded, “I’m already giving too much information.” He added, “The best I can say is, it’d be very Mike Tyson-Jake Paul type.”
Benjamin echoed the idea, saying, “It’d be cool to do a cross-over at the Pro Bowl,” and added, “If you’re listening, NFL execs, track cross-over at the Pro Bowl.”
Coincidentally, if this event were to take place, Lyles wouldnโt have to travel far, as the 2025 Pro Bowl Games are scheduled to be held in February in Orlando, Florida, where he resides.
However, whether the race will happen remains uncertain, especially since Lyles had previously expressed doubts about racing Hill unless it involved a 100m race with a multi-million-dollar prize at stake.
