Jason Kidd Gives Luka Doncic Update Ahead of Clippers Game
Luka Doncic has not yet played in the preseason. Will he take the court Monday night against the Clippers?
Due to a calf contusion sustained during a workout before training camp, Doncic has been sidelined this preseason. Although he attempted to push through in practice, he experienced tightness, leading the Dallas Mavericks to take a cautious approach by keeping him out.
Jason Kidd gave an update on both Doncic and P.J. Washington’s status this weekend, as Washington has also missed two preseason games due to hip tightness. Kidd stated that both players “most likely” won’t play on Monday against the LA Clippers, though Washington did participate in Saturdayโs practice. Doncic engaged in some non-contact drills, with hopes heโll be available for the final preseason game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday.
The Mavericks have dealt with several injuries this preseason, including losing Dante Exum for at least three months after wrist surgery, while Maxi Kleber and Kessler Edwards are nursing sprained ankles. While there’s no concern about Doncicโs readiness for the season opener, the team hopes he can get some live game time with Klay Thompson before the regular season begins.
Kidd considers Thursday’s game against the Bucks a dress rehearsal, aiming to have as many healthy players available as possible.
