Jerry Jones dismissed the idea of a Micah Parsons trade.
The past few days have been quite eventful for the Dallas Cowboys. On the field, they rebounded from their loss to the Cincinnati Bengals with a dominant win over the Carolina Panthers. Despite a minor mistake near the end of the first half, the Cowboys maintained complete control throughout the game, delivering arguably their best performance of the season.
However, as is often the case with the Cowboys, there have also been headlines off the field. To clarify, these headlines stem from the team’s front office speaking to the media—making this feel like one of those classic “we’re all trying to find the guy who did this” scenarios. Still, it’s just business as usual for the franchise.
The most significant headline emerged after Stephen Jones sat down with NFL Media. If you missed it, Stephen somewhat opened the door to discussions about trading Micah Parsons in the offseason. While he ultimately said such a trade was unlikely, his comments left room for speculation, sparking plenty of buzz.
Jerry Jones says the Dallas Cowboys have not discussed trading Micah Parsons
Enter Jerry Jones to shut things down.
During his usual Tuesday appearance on 105.3 The Fan, Jerry Jones poured cold water on any suggestion that the Cowboys are considering trading Micah Parsons.
To be clear, the new headline here is that Jerry Jones is refuting the one created by Stephen Jones. This front office is impressively skilled at running in circles while trying to appear as though they’re moving forward.
That said, Jerry’s comments are significant—he made it clear that the Cowboys have no interest in trading Parsons. Despite the challenges this season has brought, there’s no denying that the Cowboys are closer to their goals with Micah Parsons on the roster, rather than gaining assets from any hypothetical trade.
For his part, Parsons handled the speculation well. After the Panthers win—his first opportunity to address the rumors since Stephen’s remarks—Parsons acknowledged that football is ultimately a business but emphasized that he wants to remain with the Cowboys.
The Cowboys would be wise to secure an extension for Parsons as soon as possible. Unfortunately, they already missed the ideal window last offseason. The front office’s well-documented delay in finalizing extensions for CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott cost them, and repeating that pattern would be a mistake they cannot afford.
But how many times have we said that before?
