The Green Bay Packers picked offensive lineman Jordan Morgan with their first-round pick, and fans are pleased to learn how much he studied David Bakhtiari before entering the league.
According to Ryan Wood of USA Today, Morgan mentioned unprompted during his post-draft interview that he had studied a lot of Bakhtiari’s cinema. “He’s great with his feet, his movement,” Morgan remarked. “He’s a really balanced player. I take it away from him.He possesses a great pass strike, powerful arms and upper body, and the ability to lock players up. This is where I get my game from. I enjoy locking people up in stalemates. “And he is just a dog.”
Based on what he knows about Bakhtiari, Morgan must have been overjoyed to see the former Packers All-Pro greet him on X.
Bakhtiari’s enthusiastic support should delight Packers fans.
Jordan Morgan Scouting Report
Morgan’s college footage suggests that he might make an excellent fit for the Packers.
Morgan began to see the field as a true freshman at Arizona. Despite dealing with ailments during his career with the Wildcats, he consistently played left tackle when healthy.
Morgan’s athleticism is one of his most notable characteristics. At 6’5″ and 311 pounds, he is somewhat undersized for tackle. However, he had a Relative Athletic Score of 9.24 out of 10 due to good timings in the 40-yard sprint.
Morgan’s athleticism is obvious on film. He moves effectively in space, whether in pass protection or running, and his kick step covers a lot of ground. He possesses fast feet and outstanding lateral mobility, which allow him to constantly remain in front of opponents.
Morgan’s technique and play strength are the most important questions. His anchor suffers from both of these issues, which may be remedied by not exposing his chest and continuing to acquire weight in an NFL weight room.
It’s unclear where Morgan will fit into Green Bay’s offensive line. However, his quickness and build might make him a flexible chess piece that can fit in almost anyplace.
Packers Day 2 Targets
Now that the Packers have an offensive lineman, they may take alternative approaches on Day 2. Linebacker and safety are two of Green Bay’s most pressing concerns. They’ll have an excellent shot at addressing both spots with four choices on Day 2.
Edgerrin Cooper, a Texas A&M linebacker, is one of the top players still available. He’s an explosive prospect who can cover sideline to sideline.
Cooper DeJean is one of the most unexpected possibilities still available. It is uncertain if he will play cornerback or safety in the NFL, but the Packers may use him in either position to strengthen their secondary. Other names to keep an eye on include safeties Javon Bullard and Tyler Nubin, as well as third-round running backs Trey Benson and Jaylen Wright.
Packers fans are hopeful that general manager Brian Gutekunst can replicate last year’s draft success.
