Jamaican Olympian Junelle Bromfield, fiancée to Olympic champion Noah Lyles, recently shared a surprising career aspiration far from her athletics roots. During a two-week training camp in Las Vegas with Lyles, she revealed a newfound fascination with aviation, admitting that she could have pursued a career as a pilot.
The track star, known for representing Jamaica on the world stage in athletics, expressed her curiosity about airplanes while observing them during a training session. “You know what I have learned coming into this truck?” she asked her fiancée, to which Lyles responded, “What did you learn?”
Bromfield went on to explain her discovery, saying, “That the plane wheels, they don’t have anything that closes them in afterward, so they just stay like this under the bottom the whole time.” Lyles, ever supportive, clarified, “No, sometimes they do that. They don’t put up the wheels until quite a few feet into the air.”
Amused by the interaction, Bromfield remarked with a light-hearted tone, “I could have become a pilot.”
Despite her dedication to track and field, this revelation highlights Bromfield’s curiosity and openness to exploring other interests. As the couple prepares for the 2025 season, their partnership continues to evolve, with both aiming for new achievements on the track.
