The New York Knicks are reportedly interested in Philadelphia 76ers forward Guerschon Yabusele, who has been performing well this season. Unlike previous years when Joel Embiid was the center of attention, this time it’s Yabusele drawing interest from multiple teams. According to Ian Begley of SNY, the Knicks are “among many teams that have checked in” on the player. Despite this, the Sixers are not actively shopping Yabusele and have no plans to trade him unless presented with an exceptional offer. Begley notes that the 76ers “aren’t necessarily looking to move Yabusele, who is having a strong season,” and there is no specific asking price for him.
Yabusele, who was signed to a minimum contract from Real Madrid, has been one of the most valuable players for the 76ers, averaging 11 points and six rebounds in 45 games, with a shooting accuracy of 51% from the field and 40% from beyond the arc. This is a similar situation to Kelly Oubre’s signing last year, which turned into a success for the 76ers. Despite the trade rumors, the Sixers remain competitive, winning four out of their last five games, and they are still in the Play-In hunt. With Joel Embiid and Andre Drummond facing injuries, Yabusele’s importance to the team is significant, and unless an extraordinary offer comes their way, the Sixers have little incentive to trade him.
