Lakers Injury Update: Important LA Veteran “Intends” to Return This Season
The Los Angeles Lakers have suffered on the court as a result of losing some of its finest defenders for a large portion of the season. Due to injury, point guard Gabe Vincent and forward Jarred Vanderbilt are both sidelined. Vincent has only appeared in five games this season. As the team’s largest free agency acquisition of the summer, Vincent was anticipated to improve their defense. His ability to harass rival guards on the perimeter would have provided Los Angeles with a point-of-attack defender, which is something that the Lakers have been lacking all season. Vincent didn’t play well in the few games he did suit up for. Although his three-point percentage was only 11.8%, a lot of his problems may.
We received a significant update on his condition, but the team has moved forward without him. NBA insider Marc Stein claims that Vincent is getting close to making a comeback and, barring any setbacks, “intends” to play again this season.
The Lakers’ depth would be greatly increased if Vincent could return. They will benefit from having a second guard to sprint onto the floor, particularly if he can provide the skill set for which they signed him.
Adding a talent like Vincent would give this club the much-needed energy as the postseason draws near. Given his extended absence, it could be challenging to bring him back into the lineup, but this club is full of seasoned players who will figure something out.
Though there is no assurance that Vincent would come back, this is encouraging. He is eager to give Los Angeles an extra boost for a possible postseason run and has been training hard to return.
