LeBron James has vehemently denied rumors suggesting that he wanted Anthony Davis out of the Los Angeles Lakers, following the news of Davis’s trade to the Dallas Mavericks. On Saturday night, it was announced that the Lakers would send Davis, a 2029 first-round pick, and Max Christie to the Mavericks in exchange for Luka Doncic, Maxi Kleber, and Markieff Morris, making this one of the most significant trades in NBA history.
Bill Reiter, NBA Insider for CBS, mentioned that last year there were rumors within the Lakers organization about James being frustrated with Davis, though it was not certain that a trade would happen. “It wasn’t that AD was going to be traded, it was just something to keep an eye on – that LeBron is frustrated with AD and doesn’t think that it is working,” Reiter said.
In response to these claims, James quickly reacted on X (formerly Twitter), sharing a Pinocchio emoji, a clown emoji, and commenting: “You a fkn lie!!!”
James was reportedly shocked by the trade and had no prior knowledge of the deal, as he learned about it while dining with his family after the Lakers’ victory over the Knicks. Both Davis and Doncic were also unaware of the trade before it happened, according to ESPN reports.
