Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James continues to defy his age, achieving another remarkable feat on Thursday night during a 120โ112 home win over the Golden State Warriors.
James joined Michael Jordan as one of only two players in NBA history to score 40 or more points in a game at age 40 or older. James put up 42 points, grabbed 17 rebounds, and recorded eight assists in the victory.
James keeps filling the stat sheet and extending his phenomenal play well beyond what is typical for an NBA player. The Lakers are now 30โ19, looking solid for a playoff spot after recent seasons in the play-in mix. This success is largely credited to James’ leadership and the performance of his teammates, which is expected to improve further once newly acquired superstar Luka Donฤiฤ returns from a calf injury to debut as early as next week.
In his 22nd season, James is averaging 24.5 points, 9.0 assists, and 7.8 rebounds, shooting 51.6% from the floor. He’s also making 39.1% of his three-pointers, which is the third-highest percentage of his career.
Impressive doesnโt even begin to describe it.
โThe future to me is 3-4 years from now. The future 10 years from now — theyโll probably bury me and [Jason Kidd] by then. Or weโll bury ourselves.โ
