Leeds United planning bid to sign brilliant Celtic player if they win promotion
When Leeds United returns to the Premier League, they have every intention of raiding Celtic.
With eight games remaining, Daniel Farke has led his Leeds squad to the top of the Championship. Leeds will need to make some new additions if they get promoted, and they are apparently interested in one of Celtic’s top players.
The Celtic team is competing for the championship. They now lead Rangers by a point, but Brendan Rodgers’ team still has a game to go.
But whether they win or lose, Celtic may still lose Matt O’Riley, a midfielder, to Leeds, according to rumors that they are considering an offer.
Leeds could make move for Celtic midfielder
If Leeds is able to get promotion back to the Premier League, they may be interested in signing O’Riley, according to a report from GiveMeSport.
Their report claims that despite having three years left on his current deal, Celtic could be tempted to cash in on him if the money is right from the Leeds end.
ย The 23-year-old has been a key player for Celtic ever since making the move to Scotland. This season, heโs played pretty much every game and has scored an impressive 11 goals from midfield.
ย Quite what sort of fee Celtic would demand from Leeds remains to be seen. But with goalscoring midfielders worth their weight in gold, itโs easy to see why Leeds might go for him.
Matt OโRiley could be ideal for Leeds if they go up
Someone like Matt OโRiley would be a smart addition as well. Heโs proven himself in Scotland now and Brendan Rodgers has lauded the 23-year-old for his ability as well.
โI like him a lot. I think he is a really intelligent footballer. He is a top professional. He prepares his body well and he prepares his life well. He wants to do well. He sets his standards high every day to be better,โ Rodgers said.
Leeds fans, then, could be getting quite the player if they do decide to make their move.
