QPR striker Charlie Kelman has attracted widespread interest following a standout loan spell at Leyton Orient last season.
West Brom are reportedly targeting a move for Kelman this summer, according to reports. The forward impressed during his time in League One, scoring 21 goals and earning the division’s Golden Boot while helping Orient reach the play-off final.
Although the 23-year-old is back at QPR, his future remains uncertain. Since joining from Southend United in 2020, Kelman has had limited opportunities at Loftus Road, making only 26 appearances and failing to score. He’s spent time out on five separate loan spells.
With Julien Stephan now at the helm following Marti Cifuentes’ exit, Kelman has been seen training with the QPR squad. However, speculation around his next move continues to grow.
Leyton Orient are reportedly eager to re-sign the striker, but face stiff competition. Transfer expert Darren Witcoop has revealed that West Brom are among the clubs keeping a close eye on Kelman’s situation. The Baggies, under new head coach Ryan Mason, are said to be preparing for a squad overhaul.
Sheffield United have also been credited with interest, with The Star linking them to Kelman at the end of May.
Speaking earlier in the season, former QPR boss Marti Cifuentes said:
> “When we send any player on loan the main target is that they can play, can develop and progress. That’s the case with him and it’s not just about the goals but the level of his performances has been very good. Hopefully he will finish the season very strongly, and we will decide what’s the next step with him.”
Currently, QPR have Michael Frey and Zan Celar as their main striking options. Frey, who scored eight goals last season, leads the attack, but his age and limited output raise questions about his long-term role. Celar, signed from FC Lugano, managed just two goals before a hamstring injury cut his season short.
Meanwhile, new signing Kwame Poku adds depth in attack, though he typically plays wide and isn’t seen as direct competition for Kelman’s position.
