The 25-year-old made his return to Arsenal’s lineup against Chelsea on Sunday after nearly three months sidelined by an ankle injury. Odegaard is anticipated to participate in at least one of Norway’s upcoming matches, with manager Stale Solbakken confirming on Sunday night that medical staff will evaluate him upon his arrival.
“We’ll see how it turns out. The ankle, the medics and Martin decide this,” Solbakken told Norwegian news outlet VG.
In the meantime, Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka may miss England’s upcoming Nations League games against Greece and Ireland. Rice played against Chelsea despite a broken toe and was substituted in the second half, while Saka left the game with a leg injury in the 81st minute.
“It doesn’t look good, because for two players of that importance to tell you they cannot continue in the game, it’s not good news,” Arteta said.
“I don’t know whether to expect them to be fit [for the national team] because if not they don’t come off.
“What I’m praying for is that after the international break we have the team fully physically equipped, that they are available and that they are fit, because it’s been a nightmare for eight weeks.”
