Luka Doncic sent Lakers fans into a frenzy on Saturday, leading the team to a dominant 123-100 win over the Denver Nuggets and snapping their five-game losing streak against them. Despite initial doubts about their chances on the road, Doncic silenced critics with a spectacular performance.
After struggling in his first three games with the Lakers, averaging just 14.7 points, Doncic turned things around in a big way. He finished with 32 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, and four steals, making a strong statement in his new jersey. His 16-point first quarter set the tone for LA’s commanding performance, as he shot 10-of-22 from the field, including four three-pointers.
Lakers fans on social media erupted with excitement after Doncicโs breakout game. One fan took a shot at Mavericks GM Nico Harrison, who traded Doncic to LA, saying:
“Nah, Nico Harrison gotta go in witness protection after this.”
Another fan sarcastically thanked Harrison:
“NICO HARRISON YOU BEAUTIFUL IDIOT THANK YOU.”
Others mocked those who had praised Harrison when Doncic struggled initially:
“โMaybe Nico Harrison was cooking.โ That sh*t ended quick, lmaooo.”
Doncic himself admitted he finally felt like his old self again after the game, saying:
“Finally felt like myself a little bit. Playing this game, this is what I love. Just finally being myself a little bit. That’s why I was smiling the whole game.”
His breakout performance marked his first 30-point game since December 15, when he dropped 45 points against the Warriors. With Doncic now finding his rhythm, Lakers fans have plenty to be excited about as the season continues.
