The Milwaukee Bucks are set to negotiate contracts with several players this summer, including veteran forward Danilo Gallinari. Gallinari joined the team mid-season after being waived by the Detroit Pistons.
The 35-year-old didn’t solidify his role as a key player during his short stint with the Milwaukee Bucks, creating uncertainty about his future with the team. If the Bucks choose to offer Gallinari an extension, they might face competition from the Denver Nuggets.
Milwaukee Bucks Update: Danilo Gallinari Heading Towards a Possible Reunion with the Nuggets?
In Denver, Gallinari truly became an offensive force. Over six seasons with the Nuggets, his longest tenure with any team, he averaged 16.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and made 1.8 three-pointers per game.
It’s clear that Gallo is no longer the consistent scoring threat he used to be, but it’s also evident that he still has some fuel left in the tank. This is why Fran Leiva of Fadeaway World believes Gallinari would be a great free agency option for the Nuggets.
โFirst, they will need his three-point shooting. Aaron Gordon will be committing more on defense and more of his scoring will be from the post. Gallinari will make sure that the Denver opponent offense would not collapse on Jokic in the post or on Murray on the drive.”
โโฆ Also, offensively,ย Gallinari is very versatile; he can play from the power forward to the small forward position. That gives Coach Michael Malone some flexibility in lining up his teams; he could be used in small-ball lineups as a stretch four or playing with Jokic and Gordon to form a formidable frontcourt with shooting ability,โ Leiva wrote.”
Leiva notes that at the veteran’s minimum, Gallinari would be an excellent and affordable choice for Denver to enhance their shooting around their stars. This reasoning could also apply to the Bucks.
