Newcastle United have reportedly intensified their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel, with his agent scheduled to meet with both Newcastle and Chelsea in England this week. The 27-year-old Swiss international has been a standout performer in the Bundesliga and Champions League, attracting interest from several top clubs.

Kobel joined Dortmund in 2021 for a reported £13 million and has since established himself as one of Europe’s top goalkeepers. He has been named in the Bundesliga Team of the Season twice and was also included in the Champions League Team of the Season after Dortmund reached the final last year. In his four years with Dortmund, Kobel has consistently delivered impressive performances, making him a sought-after talent in the transfer market.

Reports suggest that Dortmund are bracing for Kobel’s departure and have already signed his replacement, bringing in Diant Ramaj from Ajax in January. While the exact transfer fee remains unclear, it’s reported that Chelsea are willing to pay around £59 million for the Swiss goalkeeper.
