The majority of fans believe Green Bay will trade out of the top 25, but they disagree on whether the team will move up or down from that point.
The Green Bay Packers are poised to choose 25th in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, with only hours until it begins. However, general manager Brian Gutekunst has been known to shift about the draft board, both up and down, so the prospect that the Packers may not choose at 25 is very real and feasible.
This week, we asked Packers fans what they anticipated the team will do at 25, and the vast majority of them โ 60 percent โ indicated they expected Gutekunst to trade out of 25. Interestingly, that group was virtually equally split on whether the Packers would move up into an earlier choice or trade down, perhaps knocking them out of the first round.
Check out the results here:
Gutekunst has not traded a first-round pick on draft day since 2020, while he did it in each of his first three seasons. And the only reason he did not do it in 2022 was because the Minnesota Vikings insisted on having the Packers wait until pick 34 to choose Christian Watson rather than accepting a trade for the 32nd overall selection.
In the event the Packers do not trade out of the first round, fans appear to be focused on only two spots. Over 80% of those who replied to this week’s Reacts survey believe the Packers will draft an offensive lineman or a defensive back, the two positions most typically forecasted in mock drafts:
Unsurprisingly, if there is one thing to expect from the NFL Draft, it will be something unanticipated. If the Packers see a large run on offensive linemen and DBs and are unable to capitalize on it, all of these forecasts might be thrown off.
In any way, check in tonight to see if these predictions are correct or if Gutekunst pulls off something really unexpected.
