Pep Guardiola is reportedly considering a £120 million triple transfer move for Manchester City in January, aiming to reshape his squad.
After a 2-1 victory over Leicester City on December 29, Manchester City sits sixth in the Premier League, just four points behind Chelsea, ahead of a match with West Ham. With several players returning from injury, the club, facing an ageing squad, is expected to be active in the January window.
City has been linked with multiple players, but reports suggest they’ve narrowed their focus to three primary targets. Midfielder Ederson and forward Omar Marmoush are seen as key priorities. Ederson, currently playing for Atalanta, is viewed as an ideal replacement for the injured Rodri, whose absence has hurt City’s performance.
Meanwhile, Marmoush, who has been in great form for Eintracht Frankfurt, has scored 18 goals in 24 matches this season and has attracted interest from clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool, and Nottingham Forest, who unsuccessfully bid for him in the summer. Both players are valued at around £50 million each.
Additionally, City is reportedly tracking RC Lens’ Abdukodir Khusanov, a defender valued at £20 million. The Uzbekistan international could be signed quickly, as City seeks to address injury issues in their defense.
However, Guardiola has expressed uncertainty about the club’s plans for January. Speaking at a press conference, he admitted, “I don’t know right now. It’s not easy, it will not be easy. Maybe we’ll sign, or maybe we don’t sign anyone. So I think the club has to be wise, don’t do it for doing it, just to add players. Of course, for the situation that we have and from the perspective of the players that have had consistent injuries for many, many, many times, of course the club has to do it. But I don’t know if it will be possible…”
