Meanwhile, former Rangers player Andy Halliday has encouraged the club to “go and sign” Dundee’s Lyall Cameron, a 22-year-old midfielder who could be a valuable long-term addition.
According to a recent report from Football Insider, Rangers are targeting a defensive midfielder in January, potentially securing a “cut-price deal” due to financial constraints. The report notes that Clement believes the squad is “light in defensive midfield” and would like to bring in a “powerhouse operator” despite the budget limitations. The manager reportedly prefers to have “two defensive-minded midfielders to shield the backline,” but currently only has Nicolas Raskin and Mohamed Diomande for those roles.
This potential signing would be a relief for Clement, who feels the midfield lacks the balance needed to provide adequate defensive cover.
