The Phoenix Suns won 111-109 against the Los Angeles Clippers on January 27, 2025, in a game that showed both progress and ongoing struggles. While they displayed impressive stretches of high-level play, they were once again plagued by turnovers and lapses in execution. Despite leading by 13 at halftime, the Suns allowed the Clippers to rally with a 20-6 run in the third quarter, but they managed to recover and re-establish a double-digit lead late in the game.

Devin Booker was the standout, contributing 26 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 assists in 39 minutes. The Suns shot exceptionally well from beyond the arc, making 22 of 47 attempts (46.8%), with Booker, Tyus Jones, and Kevin Durant leading the charge. Despite the Clippers’ defense giving up a lot of 3-pointers, the Suns’ ball movement helped create open looks throughout the game. Booker commented on the team’s shooting, saying, “Everybody shot it well tonight but still encouraging if we come out and shoot blanks, still have to get ’em up.”

The Suns’ win wasn’t without challenges, as they struggled to close the game effectively. A 16-4 run by the Clippers brought the game to a one-point difference with 40 seconds left. However, key free throws from Bradley Beal helped the Suns hold on.

While the Suns showed offensive firepower, their 17 turnovers led to 24 points for the Clippers. The Suns did manage to win the battle for second-chance points, showing hustle and energy throughout the game. Meanwhile, Clippers’ Ivica Zubac and Norman Powell were standout performers, combining for 48 points.

Despite the win, the Suns’ struggles in closing games and their defensive lapses, especially around turnovers, will need attention as they aim to build on their progress in future games.
