The Phoenix Suns have had a disappointing season so far and are still looking for ways to strengthen their roster after the trade deadline. Due to limited cap space, they were unable to make significant moves, despite their efforts. They attempted to trade Bradley Beal, but his no-trade clause and large contract made it difficult for other teams to take him on.
Additionally, Phoenix considered offers for Kevin Durant but ultimately decided to keep him for the remainder of the season. However, there are growing rumors that this could be Durantโs final year with the team, as a trade in the offseason seems possible.
Currently sitting at 11th place in the Western Conference with a 26-28 record, the Suns are just one and a half games behind the Golden State Warriors for the last Play-In spot. As their playoff chances fade, they are actively searching for reinforcements in free agency or the buyout market.
According to Bovada, the Suns are the frontrunners (-120) to sign former Los Angeles Lakers point guard Patrick Beverley. The Brooklyn Nets (+325), Philadelphia 76ers (+325), and Lakers (+600) follow behind. Beverley, who played for the Milwaukee Bucks and 76ers last season, joined Hapoel Tel Aviv in the summer but recently parted ways with the team, potentially opening the door for an NBA return.
While Beverley is a reliable role player, his biggest value to the Suns would be his leadership. At 36 years old, he brings veteran experience that the team currently lacks. Although Phoenix may decide to stick with its current roster, adding a strong locker room presence like Beverley could provide a much-needed boost to their struggling season.
