Ten nominees are vying for the esteemed 2024 Men’s European Athlete of the Year award, celebrating remarkable athletic accomplishments.
Jakob Ingebrigtsen, the Norwegian middle-distance track star, is prominently featured among the nominees, with excitement building for the Golden Tracks gala set for October 26 in Skopje, North Macedonia.
This prestigious event will showcase the pinnacle of European athletics, where fans will play a crucial role in determining the top athlete for 2024. Their votes will account for 25% of the final decision, which will also incorporate insights from media, federations, and experts.
Alongside Ingebrigtsen, other notable nominees for the Women’s European Athlete of the Year include Femke Bol and Keely Hodgkinson.

In the field events, Italian high jumper Gianmarco Tamberi combines charisma with exceptional talent. His gold medal-winning performances in 2024 and ability to shine internationally make him a prominent candidate for the title. The talent pool this year is impressive, featuring other remarkable athletes. Cuban-born Jordan Diaz, competing for Spain, has excelled in the triple jump, delivering astonishing jumps. Lithuania’s Mykolas Alekna, still in his early twenties, has emerged as a discus-throwing sensation, challenging established competitors. Also nominated are Norwegian decathlete Markus Rooth and Italian shot put star Leonardo Fabbri, both of whom have had outstanding seasons filled with records and titles.
