Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic has been out of the lineup since January 7, 2025. During this time, the team has posted a 7-2 record under new head coach Mike Budenholzer. Nurkic, who had been recovering from the flu, shared his frustration about being benched, saying there was “no communication” from Budenholzer. He acknowledged the possibility of being traded before the February 6 deadline but noted that the collective bargaining agreement makes such moves complicated.
Despite his reduced role, Nurkic remains optimistic, emphasizing that he has maintained “transparent communication” with the Suns’ front office. He also stated, “The organization isn’t actively looking to trade me, but I understand this is a business.”
Reports suggest the Suns are not aggressively shopping Nurkic, partly due to his current trade value. It is speculated that his value could rise during the summer when his contract becomes an expiring deal. In the meantime, Nurkic has maintained a professional approach and is ready for future opportunities, even amid the uncertainties surrounding his position with the Suns.
