A new report suggests that the Golden State Warriors are looking to acquire another star.
Chicago Bulls in Trade Talks
The Chicago Bulls have been active ahead of the trade deadline, reportedly shopping key players like Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic. Among potential suitors, the Warriors have emerged as a possible destination for LaVine.
Struggling with a 24-23 record this season, Golden State is looking to add another scorer alongside Stephen Curry. LaVine, known for his scoring ability, is considered a prime trade target.
Warriorsโ Trade Considerations
According to The Athletic’s Anthony Slater and Marcus Thompson II, Golden State is exploring the idea of trading for LaVine but faces challenges.
ย “After pulse-taking conversations with multiple players, it seems Zach LaVine might pique more interest, depending on his cost. But there is locker-room concern about who the Warriors would send away in a hypothetical trade for a high-salaried player, such as Butler or LaVine.”
A potential trade package could include Andrew Wiggins ($26.2M), Gary Payton II ($9.1M), and Kevon Looney ($8M)โall of whom are key locker-room figures.
Is LaVine the Right Fit?
LaVine, averaging 24 PPG on 51% shooting and 44.6% from three, is seen by some within the Warriors organization as a more viable option than Jimmy Butler due to his younger age (29) and lower salary. However, concerns about his long-term contract and recent injuries remain.
“But there is some understanding and alignment from all levels of the Warriors organization that they lack a true second scorer next to Curry, and LaVineโs explosive three-level scoring ability would fill the rosterโs largest void.”
With both teams expected to be active before the trade deadline, a Warriors-Bulls deal is looking more likely by the day.
