Sam Morsy’s late goal against Southampton last Saturday was crucial. Before that impressive strike, it seemed we would return to Suffolk without any points.
This season, our defense appears solid, bolstered by the addition of a tall goalkeeper in Aro Muric and two outstanding defenders, Jacob Greaves and Axel Tuinzebe, who stand out.
However, our attack is struggling to find its rhythm. This can partly be attributed to the time needed for our new players to settle in, as we are in a period of transition.
The challenge is that time is not on our side in this competitive league. We have just 36 games to get it right, and winning matches is essential.
If we don’t secure at least ten victories, we could find ourselves in serious trouble. While it’s hard to predict where wins will come from, I believe many of them should happen at a packed Portman Road. Our home support is exceptional and can serve as our advantage.
Although we are currently finding it difficult to earn points, going three games unbeaten (including two away) should provide a confidence boost. This league is fiercely competitive, and we must learn to perform consistently.
I suggest that Hirst should take Delap’s place, and perhaps Ogbene could replace Hutchinson for now. Hirst brings a crucial poaching ability that Delap lacks, and Ogbene seems like a real talent who deserves more playing time.
