Why Luka Doncic doesn’t mind reflecting on the Mavericks’ 2024 NBA postseason

DALLAS – The Dallas Mavericks are concentrating on their 2024-25 regular season opener against the San Antonio Spurs this Thursday. However, Luka Doncic isn’t opposed to reflecting on the 2024 postseason, despite the loss in the NBA Finals, as he mentioned to reporters after practice on Tuesday.

“Why not look back?” Doncic said.

He went on to explain that Dallas can learn valuable lessons from their NBA Finals journey. Naturally, Doncic and the Mavericks would have preferred to win the championship, but they gained a lot from the 2024 postseason experience.

“We know how hard it is to (reach the NBA Finals)… Every little detail matters.”

The Mavericks surprised many by reaching the Finals last season. While they had a strong team, many in the NBA community believed the Mavs were still a year or two away from being legitimate title contenders. Yet, Dallas proved them wrong.

Ultimately, they were defeated in five games by the Boston Celtics, a team that was dominant last season. Still, it was a promising season for the Mavericks.
