West Brom have several gaps to fill this summer following the exits of Grady Diangana, John Swift, Semi Ajayi, and Tedd Cann. While Ajayi has been replaced by Kyle Phillips and the forward line bolstered with the signing of Håkon Heggebø, Albion have yet to bring in successors for Diangana or Swift.
Albion Could Hijack Sheffield United’s Move
To solve their shortage of wide options, Birmingham World suggests that West Brom pursue a proven Championship talent. Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, the Crystal Palace winger, is already on the radar of Southampton and Sheffield United and could be a smart acquisition for the Baggies.
Rak-Sakyi, 22, spent last season on loan with the Blades and is reportedly being considered for a permanent switch to Bramall Lane, according to the Daily Record. Southampton and Rangers are also tracking the England U21 star, but there’s still time for West Brom to enter the race for his signature.
Per Daily Record, Palace are looking for a fee in the region of £10 million. While that may seem steep, Rak-Sakyi’s numbers last season back it up — he ranked in the top 15% of all Championship wingers (per 90 minutes) for goals, successful dribbles, and touches in the opposition’s box. These stats reflect his flair, agility, and ability to disrupt defences.
Why Rak-Sakyi Fits West Brom Perfectly
With Diangana gone and Tom Fellows drawing attention from Premier League clubs, West Brom urgently need a new direct and dynamic winger. Rak-Sakyi fits that profile — he’s known for his blistering pace, fearless dribbling, and ability to beat defenders one-on-one. His experience in formations like 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1, which are likely to be used by manager Carlos Corberán, adds to his appeal.
He previously impressed during a loan spell at Charlton Athletic in League One, scoring 15 goals and assisting eight more in 43 appearances. Last season at Sheffield United, Rak-Sakyi netted seven goals and added two assists in 34 games, showing he can translate that form to the Championship.
Although a return to Bramall Lane might be tempting, Rak-Sakyi only started 22 of his 35 league appearances with the Blades — suggesting he may face rotation again. In contrast, West Brom might be able to offer him more consistent starts, potentially unlocking his full potential.
While no move from West Brom has been officially reported yet, the transfer could be a smart and strategic one — and one that disrupts a key rival in the process.
