Wizards Sign Jamir Watkins to Two-Way Contract After 2025 NBA Draft

According to HoopsHype’s Mike Scotto, the Washington Wizards have signed Jamir Watkins, the No. 43 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, to a two-way contract.

Watkins, who just turned 24 on Sunday, was chosen by the Wizards at No. 43 overall. Standing at 6-foot-5, the wing put up 18.4 points and 5.7 rebounds per game last season at Florida State, after spending his first two college seasons at VCU. He shot 42.7% from the floor and 32.1% from beyond the arc during the 2024–25 season.

Defensively, Watkins prides himself on relentless effort, often applying full-court pressure. As a junior at FSU, he averaged close to two steals per game, followed by 1.2 steals per contest last season.

Watkins now joins Jaylen Martin as one of Washington’s two confirmed two-way players. There were also reports — as Chris Haynes noted — that St. John’s guard Kadary Richmond had agreed to a two-way deal after the June draft, but the team has yet to confirm the move officially.

If Richmond is added on a two-way deal, Washington will have used all three of its allotted two-way contract slots. That would have implications for forward Tristan Vukcevic, who played under a two-way contract last season.

Per Keith Smith’s June 29 report, the Wizards extended a two-way qualifying offer to Vukcevic. Now that Watkins is on a two-way deal, Vukcevic might return to Washington on a standard NBA contract — though that would raise the team’s count to 17 standard contracts, and NBA rules require teams to be down to 15 by opening night.
