American sprint star Gabby Thomas has voiced her support for Noah Lyles’ girlfriend Junelle Bromfield in her ongoing fight against cyberbullying and colorism.

Olympic 200m champion Gabby Thomas has extended her support to Noah Lyles’ girlfriend Junelle Bromfield following a public battle with cyberbullying.

Bromfield recently disclosed the online abuse she faced, sparking conversations about colorism and bullying in sports.

Bromfield, who has represented Jamaica at numerous international events, including the 2020 Tokyo Olympics where she won a bronze medal in the 4x400m relay, took to Instagram to share her ordeal.

“I honestly thought we were past colorism in Jamaica especially as a nation that is filled with Black people,” she expressed in a heartfelt post.

“I have been getting cyberbullied for weeks and when it gets talked about I’m a liar,” Bromfield added.

Responding to Bromfield’s post, Gabby Thomas praised her resilience and used her platform to publicly support her peer.

“Thank you for using your platform to share this—We know you are one of the most beautiful ladies on the track, but what’s even more important is how much you shine as a person and how you light up a room. We love you,” Thomas commented.

The relationship between Lyles and Bromfield both of whom met and reconnected over their athletic careers underscores a bond formed amidst competitive spirits and mutual respect.

The couple, who first crossed paths on social media in 2017 and met again at the Tokyo Olympics, shared the stage at the recent 2024 Paris Olympics.

While Bromfield did not secure a podium finish in Paris, Lyles achieved remarkable success, securing a gold medal in the men’s 100-meter final and a bronze in the 200-meter.

Withdrawing from the men’s 4×100 meter relay due to a COVID-19 diagnosis was yet another test of the American sprinter’s resilience and determination.
